Beautiful elgin watch, clean, in tacked, aged. this watch has been in a safe for 40+ years was my grand fathers when he died my uncle got it and then it was passed to me. i dont care for watches so its no value to me.
Looks neat. An early conversion from pocket watch to wristwatch.
Does it work? You should wear it if it does! I would wear it oce in a while just for a conversation piece. :)
I never liked wearing a watch. I just want to know more about it. It must be full of story's and history.
"Conversion" is correct, If you open the back and take the movements serial #( not the one on the case back) , it will tell the year of manufacture and all other pertinent info. If you were every to plan on wearing it, change out the leather strap, even if it felt short and supple, these old leather straps tend to break, damage to the watch as it hits the ground or worse fall in the commode. If you post that number in comments ,I or one of the others can date, size and other info back to you or click this link below, type in the serial number and it will give you that info.
