    AboundingO…
    (24 items)

One of the staffs that I made (for my daughter) using naturally vine twisted Hickory, a leaded glass gazing ball, under the ball I had opened a hole to place a hand carved Italian Coral Rose, meteor, and the Worry Stone - Rutilated Quartz

      Thank you Phil.

I like it but you need to read the rules of what can be posted.
    3. AboundingOddities AboundingOddities, 11 years ago
No. This was made by me and given as a gift to my own eldest. What rules state that beauty can not be shared if not offered as for sale, Blunderbuss2? It may, or may not, indicate a Belief system, but so do most of mankind's inventions and creations. Thanks, PhilDavid.

I posted something I made & it was deleted by staff. Not talking about the bottle with a topless girl holding it. That was deleted too, - real fast.

I placed this in folk art (mainly because we have no section here for staffs)...maybe that was the reason. I'm new here, and I have already gotten reamed by one user for being proud to have owned in my past collection something that had once also been sold (but I did state clearly it HAD been, and was NOT for sale)....I guess some things are touchy, but I just love history and am glad I found a place to share in it at...best to you, Blunderbuss

Wow! It's funny that you should come along and post this. I make walking sticks and staffs as well and I'm currently making one for my daughters boy friend. He's a self professed Wiccan. By that I think he means he likes crystals and dragon statues...lol... Anyway, this staff you posted is giving me some great ideas! Love the little rock inclusions and the crystal ball looks great! Great job... Thanks for sharing it!!

      Thank you, Toolate2.

LOL...(this is where I normally say to myself...Shut Up Ronald!) ;-)

I'll give you a hint as to why I made this for my daughter. She's a really good young woman, but in today's world it's easy for a good person to loose their way of training, and the staff was made to assist her in recalling what she truly believes in...rather like the idea of a reflective pool.

Being a self proclaimed Wiccan, bring into conversations what stones they use...he will mostly talk about the ones he likes best...good luck. He's a lucky man to have such a gift offered by you.

      No...LOL...I'm not wiccan

That stucks...since I can't use the word without the t.......so many businesses do that to their people. I built my own computer and took it to be updated to the locl radio shack (of course all are now owned by locals normally)...this guy gave my computer away, after saying he had called me, and would not do even a phone call to try to recover it.........he died of cancer shortly after (which I guess is rather poetic..................so I have a morbid sense of right and wrong....LOL)

I couldn't carve if a gun was aimed at my fingers. Keep looking. Many times these old carved staffs are overlooked at rummage sales and auctions, and they are decorative as well as still very useful

LOL...Jay - one's already raised his head, but oh well, they exist everywhere, and thank you for the welcoming...I like this place and have found everyone else very welcoming and knowledgeable for their parts.

I know what you mean about the net...it tends to bring out all sort, even the good. I hunted scammers for years, as well as having umpteen profiles here and there in the past, so I'm def not afraid to place my foot where it belongs...hahahaha (sometimes even in my own mouth)

heck, I am enjoying your posts and comments both...I'll look forward to learning more from you and everyone else here.

LOL...yes, indeed they were all by "someone"

      Thanks for the positive!

      Be well

Hello , I've was looking at photo#4 earlier and thought you looked fimilar, might have been just one of those things, but after reading a few comments left arount a couple other posting, it seems to be more and more a possibility. I've worked out of KC and partied around the town for many a year and might have run into you or even had some exposure to you at some time. As I'm older now, mind seems to have "Brain-farts" and tings have gotten fuzzy over the years. As far as Jerrod mentioned in comment #12, I'm probably one of those to be ignored. :-) (Hello Jerrod), but "Welcome to the CW Forum and hope to see many more posting with your treasures

I was just telling of my experience when I posted something I made. You might want to take your own advice Ronald. Nobody cares for a trouble maker.
    12. AboundingOddities AboundingOddities, 11 years ago
LOL...Kerry, I don't ignore many these days, and you sound ok to me. I have lived in KC more than a few times, from age 19 until 2006...so who knows, more weird things have happened to me than re meeting someone..........I'm now old enough to have filled in the first earth crevice with new dirt, so.............hmmmmmmmmm - my thanks to you for your welcome..this has been the best welcoming place, with the best looking pages I have yet to discover

I do understand Blunderbuss.........I'm rather used to accidentally breaking the rules...so I am certain there was no ill intent there
    13. AboundingOddities AboundingOddities, 11 years ago
Hi Jay...yes, I understood...just back from a minor auction, so today is good...nice and sunny with a slight breeze here (rubbing it in :-)

I've got to do some work then I want to get here to visit more of these good people and lern something (other than how to spend money)

Be well, and enjoy your rain Jay, and all
    14. AboundingOddities AboundingOddities, 11 years ago
Argh...sounds like our Kansas breezes. We had a straight-line wind come up months back that sent a neighbor lady to the hospital where she never healed and passed shortly after.

The auction would have been a lot better if I hadn't already spent my allotment at other auctions...LOL. I still got one or two ok items though.

Welp, if you go outside, stay on your feet...or grab the corners of a sheet and go parasailing...might be an interesting story to share there :-)
    15. AboundingOddities AboundingOddities, 11 years ago
LOL...def a chuckle, and a similar memory...I hate heights, so when I was a kid I took an empty bottle of aqua velva, poured water in it, dawned my flying suit robe (sheet like yours), climbed the ladder to the roof...and stood there with my hands on my hips like I was atop the world...then jumped.........I still hate heights for some reason...maybe it's that I no longer carry my "Brave Juice"?...grand memories, Jay
    16. AboundingOddities AboundingOddities, 11 years ago
Yeah. I lost my dad too..the one who raised us, not the one who sponsored us...LOL...his fave was Old Spice. I think we could talk for hours on end about them both...dad is held high, like yours is to you...best
    17. AboundingOddities AboundingOddities, 11 years ago
There are many of us beautiful looking, handsome men around...LOL. I appreciate your comparing me with your family...I'll answer you on the morrow through PM Jay, for now, my belly's full, and my eyes are wobbly.

Good Morning and welcome to CW! Did you make the two shorter staffs in the last picture as well? Very interesting.
For my two cents...it is really easy for comments to be read the wrong way especially when there are a bunch of smart people (at least collecting wise) who can look at a pin on a lapel and know exactly what is going on with a uniform or whatever...
Blunderbuss is an excellent fellow who was just giving you a heads up that they might pull your posting. Kerry and JayHow also smart cookies.
So welcome to the great big pile of the CW family...just like any family.
    19. AboundingOddities AboundingOddities, 11 years ago
Thank you, Amber. No, I didn't feel that Blunderbuss was aiming anything at me. I have been to enough of these sites that admin can sometimes get too carried away, so it's up to them. Ive actually enjoyed reading many of the commenters. I don't always have anything to add that would be deserving of their items or story, but this site is def one I am glad to have come across...and people like you and Jay, and Blunderbuss make it that much more enjoyable...and to be maybe recognized from such a large area s KC made Kerry a fave of mine too...;LOL

Mine is similar but the staff is the trunk of a cherry tree! Love it!

Its very beautiful AboundingOddities, you do wonderful work. Such objects somehow seem so powerful... or maybe its the Lord of the rings fan in me.
Phil... so sorry, sounds like you lost out on a beautiful walking stick. You do have great photos. I adore all of your self portraits. =^)
Blunderbuss was there with a story for me too when a few of my posting were deleted. Very good guy.
Kerry... Brain-farts had me laughing so hard. Love it!
Amber... Always the kind heart & mender =^)
toolate... you've been holding out, I didn't know you made these. We need to talk please =^)
    22. AboundingOddities AboundingOddities, 11 years ago
Tom, I love Cherry too, but they aren't normally vine twisted here since they are more protected. I found out that Blunderbuss's first thought was even more accurate toward this piece, since it's neither vintage, and it's handmade by me. I placed a piece of jewelry that I made for my daughter and it was DC'd quickly...LOL...I still call this folk art, and it's not for sell, but I'll have to be more cautious next time.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts, loves, and comments...been fun for me
