Howdy yall from beautiful north Alabama. We found this in our local thrift store and just recently (after getting Googley eyes from searching so long) found that this may be an antique silver 'wedding or wager' cup.
The hallmark is engraved nicely but all we can make out are the letters W A & SPAIN.
Who is familiar with Spanish gold as we cannot find any Spanish silver makers. Do you think this is a style or type of wedding cup? And why is it so plain & simple almost 'art and craft' looking compared to all the women figural shaped cups? I know your all busy but we'd sure appreciate any feedback when you have a moment.
Thanks so much! the Country pickers
I have the international encyclopedia of silver and pewter makers marks on my other computer. If someone doesn't answer you tonight I will post the link for you tomorrow when I am on that computer.
Really!? Oh that would be so wonderful...Wow. Thanks fhr jr2
