We bought this 10 years ago in Northern Thailand. We were told it was antique (approx 80 years old), but really don't know. We would be so appreciative if anyone could tell us more about it; its potential authenticity, age etc. It sits proudly in our house regardless :-)
I guess you were tourists visiting the country??
It might be Jizai Okimono. (Or a replica)
A Japanese metal art that Samuri Swordsmiths used as samples of their skill.
They would recreate animals out of layers of metal that are fully articulated and can be posed. There are some amazing examples in museums today.
I have no idea how to tell if it is real or not. I believe makers put makers marks on them...try googling it.
Snap! Love it too. Have you tried cropping the pictures? I found by doing that makes them the right way around.
Im getting neck pain, lol!!
