Daum Nancy acid carved glass vase "toujours fidèle"

I've had this for a few years - I bought it rather inexpensively from a seller who advised it had some corner chips and a large crack running through it, which I found out later was actually only a cooling mark (more on those in a separate article later)- but since my wife is a retired US Marine who also happens to speak a little French, the legend "toujours fidèle", or in the more familiar Latin "Semper Fidelis (always faithful)" made it a no-brainer. I had to have this cool little piece. Very thick and heavy, with three layers of glass, acid carved floral decoration and text as mentioned, properly signed in gold ink on the bottom "Daum Nancy" with the cross of Lorraine within the large ground and polished pontil.
