I am looking for confirmation that the two pins in the pics are very old Takahashi birds. The smaller brown one looks like a house wren with tiny wires for the feet and the safety pin closure. The second bird has a parrot like beak, no feet and a pin that appears to be pushed down into the wood. There are no marks on either pin.

Any information you can provide is very much appreciated.

I hope you are still around to read this! The materials used on the small orange bird are definitely indicative of the ones used in internment camps like Poston, where the Takahashis were interred. Specifically, the safety pin with the wooden piece glued in is what the Takahashis used as well. This bird however, is not seen in the collector book. As far as the red-heded bird, I don't think this is a Takahashi due to construction and the pin. I have not seen a Takahashi piece with the other clip in the collector book It is possible that perhaps they were created by other carvers of birds at the time. They are certainly works of art in their own right!
