Being as long as it is it would be better to think WW I. A bayonet started to become what it is today more of a multi role tool. They found the long bayonets to be a single role cumbersome inconvenience. That when WW II rolled around they were busy taking all the 16" bayonets from WW I and in the U.S. shortening them to 10" then finally to 8". They did the same thing to swords. This is European Italy, Germany I don't think it's English or French.

Thank you James! do you have any idea of what it's worth?

I don't really collect anything other then American. So I can't really say. They seem to be climbing more in value. 20yrs. ago I could pick them up $5- $15 now the last one I saw was $35. That is just for the bayonet they are worth more with sheath and even more with the frog. A frog is a cut and sown piece of leather that fits onto the sheath by slipping over that nob on the brass part of the sheath so they could put it on their belt.

It looks like a Spanish Mauser Long Bayonet, either 1893 or 1913 I believe.

      Would you consider selling it?

Spanish it is. You're right Dave!

Here is a pic of your bayonet. Yours isn't in the condition this one is in, so you'll be looking at less of a sale price.

So where is this barn sale? I want to be first in line. $50.00 is fair on this, in fact mark it 75, you can always come down.

Cool! Thanks YardSaleDave, It's gonna be in Hopedale, IL (central Illinois) we have a 40 x 80 building... to have it in... but we have to figue out HOW to be able to have it there 1st... ya see, it's full.... from front to back... side to side and stacked... you get the picture. We'll have one somehow... but I doubt if we get to everything. We need Frank & Mike to stop by! it's unreal! Sharon

Good luck selling, I would love to have this piece but I'm north of the border so might be tough, does anybody know if there are anymore items like this on here or websites that would sell items for a reasonable price?
