    This medal was purchased along with the other medal I recently listed. This is a 1925 Military Training Camp One mile relay medal of the 2nd corps area. Very nice with great detail. Does anyone recognize this medal or know what material its made of? If you have any information please share

      Well, I can’t tell you about your specific medal, but here is some background you may find interesting:

      From 1921 to 1940, there was an organization called the Citizen’s Military Training Corps (CMTC). Their largest training camp was at Plattsburgh, New York. This appears to be one of their medals. The CMTC was a summer program that taught physical fitness, shooting and various military skills to young men as a matter of preparedness for any future war where the Army might have to rapidly expand as it did when we entered WWI. It was strictly volunteer and those who went were not under any obligation to join the military.

      Thanks for the background Chris makes for an interesting piece of history. Im hoping someone out there may have seen this medal before or similar and let me know if they are rare or what the medal may be made of etc...
