cool st vincents find,..very cool old good timekeeping funky turquois colored chinese alarm clock,...took it apart and cleaned n oiled it up,..cept for some of the gears that look to be nylon,..or some kinda plastic anyway....timekeeping gears are all metal,..so workign good,..alarm gears behave as if stripped even tho it looks like the teeth are all there,.just a lil pathetic n sad teeth,...so not an alarm clock just a neato keen timekeeper!! ,..seems to have lost or gained absoluitly nuttin since i set it by the atomic clock yesterday,...i say WOW ,..and cool for the subject matter of it hmm?
I forgot to mentioned when you posted, lol. The comment left on my similar posting, "Will help dating this one". This would be toward the later part of the 1950's into the early 1960's, Does it show the "Polaris" logo on the dial.? I shown the logo in one photo on mine..

Shawnicus, looks like a Diamond brand - the factory made different types of cool alarm clocks with moving parts like a pecking chicken, pandas with nodding heads etc. I had one as a 12 year old when I had to wake up at 6 am for morning school. That was in the early 80s but I believe as Kerry says, they were made from earlier on. I think the Diamond company doesn't exist anymore although there may be some new old stock around in China.
My favourite colour! A nice retro piece. Again I say there is a dealer in Edinburgh, Scotland who has a whole load of these for sale. I myself have a collection now of 3 and would love to add to that collection.
