I am the Executrix of an estate and I found two tintypes. I believe this one was taken in Merida, Yucatan, Mexico of someone in the Mendez family. It is probably from the 1800's. It is approximately 4" X 3" in size. It has a cardboard type embossed frame with flowers, leaves and swirls. The background looks like a large building. The second picture has two men arm and arm, one of which is holding a basket. It may be a theatre stage in the background. This photo has some bubbling and the corners are missing. The woman who had these photos was a singer, actress and politician named Anita de Palma. Her father came from Merida, Yucatan, Mexico and her mother was of Scottish extraction who grew up in Tampa, FL.
Any information you could add would be helpful. Thank you.
One on the right looks to be from the early 20th century. One on the right looks to be late 19th century.
The one on the right is of the most interest (to me)-- the man on the left looks to be asian.
Condition issues with both images diminishes the values.

Dear Scott: Thanks for your input. I really appreciate your thoughts and I agree with the dating and the condition. They have been buried under a lot of trash for years and I'm just glad they survived as I had heard of them but never seen one close up.

The condition is not that unusual with these loose tintypes. Many suffer similar damage-- scrapes, scratches, loss of emulsion, bubbling, rusting, etc...
