i was given a sinom and halbig antique doll..i place my doll away for safe keepings..i recently came upon my doll..i noticed a whined up like music box mechanism on the side..i further observed that the previous owner looks to have glued the breastplate on..i noticed that there was something inside my doll..i googled it to see if i could find more information..i do believe my doll is an orginal simon and halbig talking doll with an orginal edison mechanism inside her..i found out from further research that they only sold about 500 of these dolls due to many complaints about the edison mechanism inside the doll...most of the dolls were returned the mechanism taken out then resold...can anyone tell me if my doll is as rare as what i think it is?..or if anyone has or knows of anyone with a doll like mine?..i would appreciate any information anyone of you maybe able to provide....thank you so much..

I have never seen one. I have never seen a Halbig that big in my life. Oh how I wish the ebay doll boards still had the bisque experts like they used to. They still have a couple though, and that is where to go. Go to eBay community, and to the doll boards. If this is real, and I have no reason to believe it's not, they will be very excited.

Thanks! I hope you get a better answer. I know just enough about bisque to know what I have in my hands. I know the person I talked to as never seen one before, but we have heard about them. I know the 119 mold is a larger baby like features doll. It has the edison thing in it. You might want to get it appraised for insurance at the very least. I would love a pic of her sitting up and a clearer picture, the cheek color looks really good. I'm seeing different molds going for about 4-5 thousand dollars

thank you so much..i am going to take some pics of her sitting up and take some better pics..the mold on my doll is 122..i had a hard time taking that pic so markings on the back of the neck arent too clear..going to try and take a better pic of that for u as well..again thanks and if you come across any more information let me know..you have been quite helpful..

This is a normal 122. Now you will bump that up much much more because of it's edison and it's rarity.

that was extremely helpful..i was surprised it was mold 122..i had often looked for it while browsing ebay..hadnt looked recently and there it is sold on the fourth of this month..i hope these pics provide a better look..i wanted to ask the doll has some dirt and grim especially on her hands..should i leave it just as it is or clean it with something just to get the dirt off..if i should wipe it down alittle what would you recommend...thanks again for all your help...

okay vestaswind i need to see if u can be of assistance to me one more time..: )..i found out that its not an edison mechanism..it is a simon and halbig crying and possibly crying and laughing doll..i know the doll probably isnt worth as much as if it had the edison mechianism in it..but i do think it is still very rare..a person wrote me stating they saw them go for 300-500...im thinking that is alittle low..can you said alittle light on this for me..i know the link u had shown me where a regular one went for 800 on ebay...any information would very much be appreciated..thanks so much..once again..lol

Well there is no picture here but this is Sotherby's
      http://www.sothebys.com/app/live/lot/LotDetail.jsp?sale_number=NY7244&live_lot_id=1
Here's another that is up for auction
      http://www.artfact.com/auction-lot/24-simon-halbig-k-r-122-doll-198-c-b467a3f08b

This shows it's between 6-900. Now what I would do if you can is wait. Dolls are not at their highest right now like many things are in this economy. If you can hold out the prices will go back up. It may mean as much as a couple hundred dollars difference or more.

Keep in mind with the Sotherby's she had broken fingers

Make sure you change the title of your auction too. A good close up of the eyes is always a good idea. I woud take a picture of the face eyes open facing front. Color and eyes are a big deal on how much those dolls go for.

Oh and another note. You can use photobucket to put pictures on your auction for free. You put the link in the description

haha theives with no taste. I love it. Please forgive me for anyone that collects those, I do appriciate you. I went to a doll auction and everyone fought over the CP dolls. I walked away with some real jems from the 70's still in the box and made a pretty penny. I have two that came out in 1985. I have them still because they were gifts. I'm not a fan.

I have never seen an edison talking bisque myself. I imagine they worked very much like the dolls of the 60's that talked with a record.
