TALLCAKES! Ruth Webb Lee called this late 1800's pattern BEADED BAND but did not know who made it. This pattern was apparently more common in the Ohio Region. One of my Canadian Reference books claims it was made at the Burlington Glass Works, in Ontario, Canada. Do you have more info. on it and do you have this pattern in your vast menagerie of Cake Stands. BOB
hey Bob, that is the info I have on this one as well; Beaded Band (AKA: Thousand Eye Band) by Burlington Glass Works, c.1884. This attribution is from a fairly reliable online resource. But the two book sources I have list the pattern as maker unknown. I've come to understand that some of the patterns attributed to BGW was based solely on cullet shards found at the factory site with no confirming data. I'll check to see if I can come up with anything more.
Thanks! Is it a common Stand in your area, assuming you live in the States? I live near Canada's Capital City. BOB
not sure how common but I do see the pattern with some regularity on eBay. Being in Tennessee, I'm away from the glass meccas of the USA. So I'm limited to the antiques malls and online resources.
Thanks Aimathena and vetraio50 for the love! RER(BOB)
