This Secretary Desk I picked up an estate sale and appears to be from the early 1900s from what I have found out. During the 1920s Union Furniture mfg cabnets etc and the eastern half of the factory was destroyed in a 1928 tornado when the rooftop water tower collapsed and killed workers. Originally a group of twenty-some workers broke away from the Forest City Furniture Co. in Illinois in 1875 to form the Rockford Union Furniture Co. This Secretary Desk is marked #579 on a label (pictured). Have no idea what it is worth but has Original Keys and looks to be a Flame Mahogany finish on it. I am no expert. lol Anyone can add any comments that would be helpful or want to contact me through email feel free. footbllfan8@aol.com
Really beautiful!
Probably made mid to late 30's or early 40's. This was extremely well made furniture and built to last. This piece has a few minor flaws but it is still a handsome piece.
Nice well made furniture-- holds up much better than modern particle board!
