I like the plant i chose for the head - a Santa Cruz Island Buckwheat. Under the table is a Taff's Gold Piggyback plant and a western serviceberry which i'm attempting to bonsai.

He looks good with the chosen plant in his head.
The western serviceberry is known as the Saskatoon here in western Canada & is a favorite of mine.

hi walksoftly. yes the saskatoon is one of my favorites. i think this one is actually a utah serviceberry. i've had the mother in a medium/large pot for around 10 yrs and it's a real beauty and provides loads and loads of very sweet fruit. i grew it from a cutting i took near livermore - where both utah and western serviceberry grow [actually, i think that there is some confusion which has not been resolved between the two]. even in the ground, this one stays under 4 ft tall and thickets.

I didn't realize there were so many species in that genus, so never knew of the Utah serviceberry.
