The purchase of these was a real bargain but Omgosh was the shipping extremely expensive. The seller said they are very heavy. The last photo (far right) shows a complete set. I only purchased the luncheon plates, the cups were not included. The King's Crown pattern was made by Tiffin Glass from the 1890s – 1950s and then by Indiana Glass from the 1950s – 1980s. The glass color is Avocado or Dark Green.
TallCakes Update:
Small correction on the history of this pattern; The Excelsior (X.C.L.R.) pattern (made in crystal and with ruby stain) was introduced and made by Adams & Co. before they joined the U. S. Glass combine; King's Crown is an AKA for this pattern. Tiffin was not in existence at that time but was formed as a subsidiary of USG in 1914, and didn't start marketing glass as Tiffin until 1927. The pattern was reproduced by several other glass makers thru the years and was typically marketed as "King's Crown"; including these pieces by Indiana Glass. Some of the pieces are a bit tricky to distinguish but the shapes of the thumbprint is an indicator of the reproductions.
Beautiful & nostalgic! Love it! =)
=^) Thank you for the Love and lovely comment Tom xo
