1 Pictured is a ESSO porce sign 1940's 24x30 a child hood memory
2 48" porce Shell clam shaped sign 1930 -40 my most valuable,one just sold for $3900 on ebay an it was not embossed /ribbed like mine :)
3 Standard oil porce sign 18x36 1920,s nice colors
4 Good year porce 60x33 dated 1939 sign display nice

If those are bullet holes, I bet the Esso & Standard signs are from the South.
The Shell sign is one of my very favorites! It is often referred to as the "shark's tooth" Shell sign.
What you are calling embossed on that sign is referred to as "shelving" of the porcelain. Nicely pronounced on that particular sign.

thanks Dave, your right about the shelving term,,,the shark tooth is new to me...
does anyone know the exact date this shell sign is, I see all types,but this one looks to be the best made,,
