I don't have any idea what this trunk was; I just saw it today and purchased it. The metal locking mechanism is on each end and it opens down the middle on the top and has metal corners all the way around. It's made from slats and someone painted over the name, which I can't make out very well, except for "Electric Co." and "Kansas City, MO". I was just wondering if anyone else has seen anything like this before or if you know what it may have originally been used for? Thanks so much!

I'm not sure what this was used for and hoping that maybe someone has seen one like this before and can shed some light on what it's original use was. Thanks so much!

Don't rule out an industrial well built utility trunk for storage. Looks like a multi -purpose style of trunk, not intended for any one thing in particular. Has a great look to it. Welcome to CW and thanks for the post!

Nice vintage industrial storage box/tool box/trunk!
      Unique construction as well.
Try shining a black light on the lettering, it may enable you to read more of the name.

I have no clue, but first thing that popped into my mind was an old-school shipping crate. It was obviously not built to be air/water tight, and not for personal items where you could have clothes with buttons catch between the slats, or small items slip through the slats completely. Also with it being flat on top, would allow for easy stacking, and is just the right size to allow a work crew to easily load/unload many of these.

Again, I don't know for sure, but that is my best guess.
