I don't believe anyone wears old hats that these would fit on anymore :) I would guess they would go back at least a hundred years or close to that era, what do you think?

I believe you are correct. I recall my great grandmother wearing one to church and when I laughed she would aim the pointed at me with a "you better be good" look in her eyes.

fhrjr2, despite what you see that I have posted recently ...my I am in the Antique Jewelry business and I work with one of the finest Jewelry store in California. And they have been mentioned on Antiques Roadshow. We have some of the finest antique jewelry repair experts in there field. I personally collect Antique jewelry and just take a look at my older postings....I love what I do...or take a look at my bio....

I am not sure what prompted your reply and I could care less. If my being in agreement with you was offensive, next time I will try harder to disagree. I only read and write English so we may have a communications problem.

Hatpins done in the style and length as yours come from Victorian-era/Edwardian-era or specifically from the 1880-1925 time period. I could pinpoint them further to the 1890s-1920 era. Most antique hatpins are just collected rather than worn these days though I have been known to use some in my annual Kentucky Derby hat or when dressing in costume for a hatpin Collector'c convention. If you want to know more about antique hatpins, read the interview with Jodie Lenocker (link available on this page).
