THIS KNIFE WAS PREVIOUSLY LISTED . THE KNIFE WAS RESTORED FROM A RUST ENCRUSTED ITEM BY SURFACE GRINDING WHICH GREATLY REDUCED ITS THICKNESS. BLADE TAKES A VERY GOOD EDGE WHICH EASILY CUTS PAPER. THE UPPER CURVED EDGE IS JUST AS SHARP AS THE MAIN EDGE. I WAS CHOPPING ON A PIECE OF WOOD AND HIT A NAIL, THE BLADE CUT THROUGH THE NAIL AND NO DAMAGE WAS DONE TO THE EDGE. NAIL WAS A LITTLE THICKER THAN A MATCH.
I HAVE NEVER SEEN A KNIFE THAT WAS SHAPED LIKE THIS. I WISH I HAD TAKEN A PICTURE WHEN FIRST FOUND. MOST OF THE GRIP PIECES WAS DESTROYED BY BUGS AND DAMPNESS ,BUT I GOT A ROUGH IDEA FROM THE REMAINS. THE CROSSPIECE AND BUTT PIECE WERE SOLDERED ON WITH LEAD. HEATED AND REMOVED BOTH AND POLISHED AND REINSTLLED THEM WITH A SOLDER CALLED TIX, A LOW MELTING SOLDER BUT VERY HARD WHEN HEATED.
IT HAS A GOOD FIT IN MY HAND. I WORKED IT TO BE A USEFUL TOOL. I AM NOW TRYING TO MAKE A SCABARD FOR IT.
