Hi, I need help with this one. I bought this bowl some years ago because I liked its form and because it reminded me of Nylund's three-lobed ceramic bowls. Recently I saw another nearly identical bowl for sale on ebay with a Strombergshyttan label and an etched design on its side. The bowl is in clear glass, has a concave polished pontil, is 13.5cm long and 7cm high. Can anyone confirm my hunch ? The images of the ceramic bowls can be seen at designqvist.at.
Hi glassart! I think this is a Gunnar Nylund bowl. Launched about 1958-60. In my catalog from 1972, someone has written GN under the picture of this bowl. Model number is T352. I have no drawing of the bowl, but I'm quite sure (from your pictures of his ceramic bowls) that this glass bowl is a composition of Gunnar Nylund.
Thanks rebessin. It makes me ask the question that if the design lasted until 1972, how long was the average production life for a Stromberg piece of glass ?
I know that some models by Gerda Stromberg from 1930s, was still in production in late 1970s. And after Orrefors shut down the production in Strombergshyttan 1979, the production of some Gerda Stromberg models continued in Orrefors, and was launched as news. Also several Nylund and Asta Stromberg models from 1950s was produced in Orrfors after 1979.
I suppose if they keep buying you keep making.
stunning! I love it :)!
