Today's find is another nice gaudy hand painted Chinese vase. It stands 14" tall and about 8" in diameter at it's widest. One side has a bird and floral panel and the other side has an Imperial court scene with the Emperor and his attendants. The sides have gilt handles and the appliques that extend below the neck. There's a little wedge out of the top that has been glued back but it's almost invisible .The bottom is marked with a reproduction stamp "Qianlong Nian Zhi" (Made during the Qianlong Reign) seal and the other mark means "Fang" or "imitation". So it's 20th century from about the 60's or 70's as far as I can figure out by researching on "Gotheborg.com". Made in China and probably decorated in Macao or Hong Kong. -Mike-

Hi janicepark...Well in this case I posted it on the Asian Art forum and one of the experts ID'd the stamp on the bottom for me. The small character above the number reads "Fang" or imitation or copy of. Most of the marks on Chinese porcelain are part of the design and rarely indicate the real age of the piece. Here's links to a couple of sites I use. The Asian art forum is a bit tricky to use. The posts are delayed by 24 hours to avoid spam. It also takes a while to get and answer and maybe not at all. Gotheborg's site has marks that you can look up and will tell you if it's modern or antique. Hope this helps. -Mike-
