Most of this is fairly obvious if you can see the pictures.

It's a brass tube, with caps soldered at both ends. On one of the caps is soldered what looks like a miniature Ford lug nut, also brass, and there's a tiny hole in the non threaded portion of the nut. A fitting is threaded into the nut with a knurled brass valve stem threaded into the fitting. On the tube is a very worn red label.

    Now the not so obvious.

On the red label, some words can be made out in bright light. Around the outside are the words "Operate tub{unreadable}-she-{unreadable} upside down. Directions" 'Directions' is upside down from the word 'Operate', and most of the other words are sideways. Under 'Directions', in much smaller lettering, and still upside down is "Operate the {...}sher up and nozzle down{....}Turn valve {...} to left.

Directly toward the nozzle/valve from that, right side up again, there are even smaller words from which I can make out "of", "Manufacturing", "for", "valve turn", and "to"

And just toward the nozzle from those words are "{unreadable}sher Industries"

It's filled with a very smelly liquid, like a powerful paint smell, or maybe something like a concentrated carburetor cleaner smell, which is volatile, but not like a gas. It's volatility is around that of Freon. I tried to light a drop of it on fire, but it vaporized without burning.

I'd really just like to know what it is, what it's used for, maybe who made it.

    Thank you to anyone

Thanks for such a rapid response. I guess these things are a bit before my time.

I was leaning toward fire extinguisher, after my flame experiment went bust. I'm a bit concerned about the effectiveness though. It couldn't even put out my lighter! It did make some pretty green flames though, and the dain brammage was only temporary...

      Thanks again.
