I bought these dolls at a yard sale. I don't know anything about them. They appear to be wearing colonial period clothing to me. A friend thought they might be European. They look pretty old. Her dress is deteriorating from age. I don't know if they were homemade or factory made. I love her ringlets in the back of her hair and her necklace. If anyone has any knowledge about them, I would appreciate it.

Homemade dolls USA just dressed by maker in Euopean style . They date from most likely 1940's-50. They are nicely dressed and make fora lovely pair. These cloth dolls were quite popular for Mom's to make and Grandma's to give as gifts . You will never know who made them unless person who sewed put their name on themm and that is rare to find . I have seen them with ink writing to who they were gifts for . That is all one can say about them . Hope it is enough to satistfy what you wanted to know :-) The dress she is wearing was likely made from a old dress and made into one for her . That is common and we still do that today . I sewed for a doll museum and used old cut up dresses to make one's for dolls .

Thanks Manikin! That answers my questions. I thought they were probably homemade but I don't know much about dolls. I think they are a lovely pair, too.
