I was told this was late 1800's? I don't know. It says GMH marked into it. Has 7 1/8 and John B Stetson and Washer Bros Fort Worth Texas inside. Anyone know about Stetson hats?

The acorn tassel would indicate military. The acorn was supposed to be a peace sign on weapons for several centuries & then the Brits. went to the pineapple as a sign of peace, but we see how far that got Capt. Cook. I never could figure how symbols of peace could be used on military weapons & gear." We have all these weapons because we are here for peace, but can kill you!!".
Definitely not late 1800s, as this style campaign hat does not go back that far. The four vent holes, one on each side, show this to be the Montana peak style, although this one's peak has pooped out. I doubt it's WWI issue, because those usually have 3-5 rows of stitching around the brim. Sorry I can't date this any better than that. The color of the hat cords would indicate branch, and if that cord is blue, then it's infantry.
Post WWI for sure....maybe 1930s or early WWII

Negative. The hat cord looks black and gold to me (its a bit dusty) but that is more than likely an Army Officers hat. If it were enlisted cavalry the cords would be yellow,- Red for Artillery, Blue for Infantry, etc....I believe your hat is an early WWII standard Army Officers Campaign hat....
