I was given this trunk from a man who had it in his family for 80 years. It was passed a long to various family members in California and he ended up with it.
L 24" W 16" H 15"
The label on the inside lid is worn, but I can make out the words Paris? and Execute. They are written on the same line, on the bottom with writing in between.Top line has the words travel(ing)? and Case,on the same line with words I could not read in between.
The lock is cast iron. It has round and square nails. I have been looking for for this trunk, but so far, have found nothing. Any help on were to look.Or does someone know what type of trunk this is. Would be of so much help And maybe the year or decade it was made in.
Thank you.
This style of trunk was from around the 1820's or even a bit earlier-- I have a black one on my site with the same positioning of the metal brackets. Take a look for comparison.
I will look at yours Trunkman. Thank you.
