Hello..I just acquired this beautiful slender tripod bronze art glass candlestick. It is unmarked but I believe it is perhaps Loetz...Kralik?? Any thoughts or impressions would be welcomed!! Thanks in advance!

The candlestick measures 12" in height. The glass candle holder in question measures approx. 4.5" in height and 4" in diameter at mouth. The pontil inside is rather rough. Again, I can find no markings. Thanks.

Thanks Sean68....any idea of the maker? I am leaning towards Kralik although I am definitely not certain.

Not Loetz, and I doubt Kralik also.

Thank you dlfd911....I think it looks very much like the Kralik Overshot. What makes you feel confident it is not Kralik may I ask?

I have owned a few Kralik overshot pieces. This is not overshot, it is artificially aged to look like dug up glass, like the old Roman stuff. Overshot would have applied frit. This actually looks like some glass that has been showing up on eBay lately. One seller said it was imported from China. I'm not sure about the metal stand though. Does it look old? Is is cast?

      Hello again....
I purchased this piece from a woman well into her late 70's. She purchased it in New Hope, PA "many years ago"..according to her. It is cast..Knowing this woman's taste in art and other pieces, I don't think it is Chinese made to look old. The base is beautiful and very substantial in weight. I guess I will have to actually take it somewhere for someone to examine. I am completely stumped! I do appreciate your thoughts on the subject! Thank you.

Oh well! Thank you all for taking the time to share your knowledge. It's hard when you have a good working knowledge of certain items and very little knowledge about others! LOL I thought the lines of the candlestick were very appealing and I know nothing of glass other than I am drawn to it. I will have to consider taking the time to educate myself when it comes to antique art glass. Thanks guys!

Don't feel bad Moondance99. I have been an art glass enthusiast for about 25 years now, have a fairly substantial collection of related books, and still get fooled from time to time. I'm one of those collectors that see the pretty pictures, but cannot afford to buy from high-end auction houses where items are properly identified, so I spend A LOT of time looking in the hopes of picking up an occasional "score"; typically unsigned.

While I have had some good success in doing so, it is not without an occasional mis-step; you can learn just so much from pictures. There's no substitute for seeing, touching, feeling the items in person. I figure if I come away with more scores than misses, and the savings out-weigh the losses, then I'm doing Okay.

I'm sure others would disagree, but in my case, it's hard having filet mignon taste on a peanut-butter budget :)

AMEN TO THAT TWENTIETHC!! My father would always use the expression "champagne taste with a beer budget"....same thing! :) I have to say, that I have a passion for a great number of things and I have been very fortunate to date so I can't complain and I agree totally with your comment regarding coming away with more scores than misses...and there is always something new to learn. Antique art glass is new to me. Thanks!

      Agree 100% with David.
Not Loetz and not Kralik. Looks like studio glass artificially aged to look like ancient Roman glass.

I have a few of these packed away. One has the original sticker. I will try to find them and let you know the name on it. I believe it starts with "Silv..." but I can't recall the rest. They are not pre 1950s, but honestly the metal work and glass are quite well done. It's interesting, when I have them out people always comment on them.
