Dentist Insignia

I bought contents from a house that had partially burned and fell in. The man was a dentist and all his dental equipment was still in the house and I have it. This was hung on the wall as you walked into his house. He left in the early 80's leaving everything there. The equipment was easy to research, but I can find no information on this item. Some have called it a Rod of Asclepius insignia. I can tell you it is 23 1/2 inches tall and 16 1/2 wide. It was painted black, but the paint is peeling. I believe it is solid aluminum and the dds plate is brass. There are also some sort of stones in the snakes eyes. I have researched the net and have saw several of these items, but none where the snakes heads were above the wings. If anyone can help with info, it is greatly appreciated.
