In the 1800's pictures were taken on tintype, on metal. Later they were taken on glass negatives and I always wondered how great great grandfather was able to get his picture inside the paperweight. With the discovery of picture taking on glass, it dawned on me that he was able to sandwich the picture on glass between two other pieces to get his picture inside.
As glass blowers and makers, Dithridge made many products in his Fort Pitt Glass works, from Cut glass to kerosene lamp chimneys.
