This flawless piece was in the nautical-themed bathroom of some family friends. When they passed away, I helped going through their belongings to give away for donation, etc. Part of my work is that I got to keep this piece, which is (estimation) about 18" tall and weighs enough that two hands hardly seem like enough. I love the bubbles in the glass and the gold flecks (in the close-up). There aren't any cracks or chips on this piece. It doesn't have a signature, but I understand many pieces like this had stickers originally, so it probably came off at some point. I need a curio or lovely place with just the right light to place this piece in, so I can enjoy it more fully.

I'm not sure on the maker but it's huge and very unique looking! Thank you for sharing and welcome to CW!

Awesome! Had one a while ago. Fairly certain it is either Barbini or Barovier ... should be easy to figure out which.

I saw that one on eBay - it's still on there and looks identical. Still have this piece. All the research I've found points to Barbini, twentiethc. I love the gold. And so big and heavy, my cat can't knock it over. I don't think I could sell it because shipping would cost a mint! :)

I noticed that, too. I can't quite tell how different but there does seem to be a slight difference in the "waves" (gold part at bottom) and also the curvature in the back. It amazes me anything handmade could be duplicated that similarly when it comes to glass, really. I live in the same town where Orient and Flume is (if familiar) and have toured, watching them make vases and paperweights and it seems nothing short of a miracle.
