Sorry about the quality of the photo's but my brother took them. This beautiful set as been in the hall for over 17 years and it's about time we looked into it's history. I have no idea where to start, I've looked through umpteen websites and have not been able to find anything quite like it. if anyone out there could tell us about it we would be very grateful. They really are very beautiful and well made. many thanks.
Wow, impressive!
Wonderful and beautiful carving . I bet the back is not to comfortable to lean against . Looks like for royalty .
You may be at a loss to find the maker. This is not hand carved or marked from what I can see. I would suggest going to a site for real or repro. I think you might find the answer there.
Thank you everyone especially Jim :) good job it's raining as I think my day will be spent on the internet. it is a beautiful set but unless you have the space to really show it off it loses some of it's wow factor. Cheers sue
This is stunning art love it:)
are there any slightly loose joints you can take a picture of? I mean, from my limited experience with Chinese chairs, they look right structurally, but very over the top. Not something I have seen before.....oh and as far as hand carving measure the symmetry of the dragons and the symbols that jwedell spoke of. Nice!
