My In Laws collected Beer Steins and they all appear quite old. Where can we find the Background and History on these steins. They are quite interesting to look at. We have more I have to take photos of yet, but these are just two of them.
this one appears to have the stamp on the bottom that says Mettlach (VB)(but integrated together as one ) numbers stamped on the bottom is 69, 07 and what appears to be a 7 or a strange mark that looks like a 7 and below the words it says GES-BESCH.
    Thanks

This is a stoneware stein made by Villeroy & Boch at their Mettlach, Germany factory. The 07 indicates it was made in 1907. The text is: “Tu gemach und lach,
so geniess’t dein Sach.” (Do slowly and laugh, that way you will enjoy things.) It should be signed by L. Hohlwein who designed the stein. Visit http://www.steincollectors.org to learn more about antique German beer steins.
Ges. Gesch. means protected by law. You need to post a photo of the strange 7, but it may be a proof mark. You may want to consider joining Stein Collectors International.
