German Beer Stein

I am trying to identify this German Beer Stein that has been in my family for well over 60 years. The name Alexander Breyer Brauer or Alexander Bareycer is engraved on the inside of the lid in handwritten engraving along with a phrase in German. This was passed down from my father who really couldn't tell me much about except that it had belonged to my grandfather, a sailor in the US Navy and a retired PanAm pilot. I am interested on the value as they have just been passed down with no real information.
