Can anyone here tell me weather or not theses are authentic vintage or Reproductions? the round one is approx 35 inch diameter and the rectangular one is about 10 inch x 16 inch. They do appear to be very "weathered" and a bit of rust where the paint has chipped and they are made of steel. Iwould think a reproduction would not be in this condition but im not an expert.
thanks!
the square sign does appear to be correct
you can find this sign on page 83 in Amistadis Antique Advertising gas, oil, automotive signs volume one. Mike
P.S. 35" sounds like the wrong size to me. Is it two sided? The (Reg.T.M.) style signs were replaced by the (circle R) between 1960-68. The "black-outlined green T" usually indicates an earlier sign, 1915-36, but these are 42" "sheeperds crook" style pole signs. The "banjo" style pole signs replaced these until 1968+. BUT remember, Texaco was the most prolific advertiser ever, & wide spread, with numerous add. agencys & sign mfg.s throughout the world. dont give up!
