The first edition, in two volumes, was published by Nimmos in 1865, Arabian Nights Entertainment/ This was a score! I arrived just after they opened the doors. Went to the back as I always do first and there sat a shoppong cart full of books getting ready to be put out. I started digging through it and made some really cool finds! This is one of several from that cart. Hard Back books are $1.49 each!

Wow! Another great find. The Goodwill near me pulls things like this aside and puts them up on shopgoodwill.com so I don't bother going hunting there. I have not added to my collections in a very long while, I have too much as it is!

They used to do the same here, but now they don't bother. The manager got tired of sending things back to Kansas City and then the don't put on shopgoodwill. I'm out everyday hitting 5 thrift stores, sometimes I will hit Goodwill 2x a day. :))

Never mind, I found the answer! Now you should know better ... post some of the illustrations!

The Arabian Nights' Entertainments, with upwards of an hundred illustrations on wood drawn by S.J. Groves
Green cloth boards with gilt decorated spine, pp 540, adverts. pp 27, 8vo.
Published by William P. Nimmo, Edinburgh, 1868
      Illustrated by S. J. Groves

The first edition, in two volumes, was published by Nimmos in 1865. This edition has a solid feel to it, the thick board covers covered in fake green leather, giving it a respectable and a value for money appearance. William Philip Nimmo (1831-1883), worked as a bookseller in Edinburgh from 1855 until his death. His apprentice, Alexander Hay (1845-1899), beame a partner and after Nimmo's death he continued as the senior partner in the firm of Nimmo, Hay and Mitchell.

Our DAV Thrift Store is no checking if it looks Antique, our Goodwill however will not, Manager belives if someone finds a good thing that they will come back and buy more. I walked in yesterday and some man was walking around with a Maxfield Parrish print, It was the one with boy on swing & bubbles. Got to the jewlery counter and a lady had a bakelite bangle they just brought out. Salvation Army is good every now and then. Love to see the Matchbox. DAve
