As an antique (mainly) gun collector with a lot of gun smithing thrown in, I hadn't thought much about the H&R's. A dutch friend asked me if I could do anything with an old 9 shot .22 that the gendarmes had sealed the barrel & broken the firing pin off of the hammer & given back. His H&R was made in the late 50's with the firing pin part of the hammer & not available. I milled a slot in the hammer & made a firing pin that I pinned in. That was a job! Ordered a new barrel & installed as well as a cyl. hinge that was broken. May be cheap, but no sat. nite special. Repairing that 1 gave me a better respect for the H&R's. They are a lot better designed & built than I had been lead to believe.
I love target shooting. Only problem is they never stood still o.O
The bottom one, H&R Premier, appears to be the Second Model with the 6" barrel,
Mfg. between 1905-1941.
Is the top one the Automatic Ejecting Third Model, Mfg. 1905-1940?
I'm not to familiar with H&R. Nice looking revolvers.
Dave
the top one is the 38 blunder and the bottom one is the 22. thanks all for your stories and love
Yeah pw, I'm not up-to-date on these either & too late to research. Looks like the early S&W or Webley extraction sys..
And Amy, with a blunderbuss, the targets don't have to stand still! You hit it and everything around it. Recoil is a bit of a nuisance though.
