I not sure but it could be a starters gun for Sailboat races or a Military signal gun. Is it Bronze or Brass. http://shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=signal+cannon http://www.dixiegunworks.com/default.php?cPath=22_106_665 It is missing its trunnions they should go where the two holes are great piece. Where did you find it?

This cannon was given to our dad by our uncle about 50 yrs ago he thinks it can from Pennsylvania/Kentucky area.We believe its to be Bronze..

Most cannons had the trunnions cast right into the barrel for permanent mounting. Yours was more than likely made for a swivel set up where the shaft would be placed into an oar lock or similar hole on the ships railing.

Value is tough, I have gotten as much as $500 and as little as $75 for these. If the name "Loud Lucy" is rare, a hard core cannonier will recognize it right away.
