    (1 item)

30 inches long, 18 inches wide and 18 1/2 inches deep
missing inside drawer and side straps and key.
Looking for any history on this item, I acquired it in my hometown, the lady I bought it from bought it from her great aunt and that's all we know. Looking at possibly having it restored. I absolutely love it, it has such character.

I am always on the lookout for one too -- still haven't even seen one yet! Great trunk and good luck with the restoration.

Nice Wallaway trunk! It was made in Clinton, MA. around 1880 -90. I found one years ago when we lived in MA. I restored it a few years back and it sits at the foot of my grandsons bed.

Meant to tell you that your "Wallaway" would be beautiful when restored. Are you planning on restoring it?

I just pulled one of these out of my parents barn. My mother said her parents used it to hold their fine china. She remembers it from when she was a child, born in 1936, it always sat on a shelf in the basement. When I found it, it had been sitting in a barn for 20 years. My father laughed that I would ever want it, as it was covered in bird poop and dirt. However a little elbow grease and its clean and has a beautifully patina. Some pitting in the metal and im sure the wood would drink mineral oil if I applied it.
Now I'm wondering what I should do, should I restore to new, seal in existing patina or refurb into a coffee table or something else? Any suggestions?
Also how do I post pictures? I would love for all of you to see the trunks i found and give me ideas.

I have a wall trunk that has the original, I guess you say plates on the corners saying Clinton Wall Trunk Mfg,Co. Est.Feb.25th 1890, but on the little plate above the locking device it say- PAT Oct. 2 1888 can someone please tell me the difference, or when this trunk was actually made. THANK YOU

Most likely the patent date for the lock specifically which would be different than the corner hinge. You could easily look up the patent date of the lock and see who made it...
