Vintage hand carved 6 foot wooden Indian, circa 1950's or 1960's. This is the first thing you see when you walk into the foyer of my home. These statues were used to advertise the sale of tobacco and it's dealers back in the day and were probably used at general stores. Thanks for looking!

      Great looking Indian!

Are you sure it is carved wood? There are several bare areas (palm of saluting hand, face crack, chest area....) that show white where the paint is chipped or missing. Maybe just the photos but I wouldn't expect to see ivory white areas underneath the paint.

Great looking piece at any rate.

Scottvez, yes it's hand carved wood, back on the early statues they put a porcelain like coating over the outside of the Indian to make the outside have a more smooth or glaze like finish and it was easier to paint and seal as well.

You're welcome, also on the very bottom if you flip him on his back you can see the raw carvings from the underneath side of him which is pretty cool, I would take a picture but he is very heavy and solid!
