Salvaged a couple of brass name plates from old electrical motors destined for the junkyard. Done some research on the British Thomson Houston co. The company was started in the 1890's and changed name in the 1940's, that will be the period in which this plate would have been made. Made of 3 mm brass and 95 mm by 111 mm in size. Is it collectible and does anyone have more info on this piece.
Thanks.
That must have been a huge motor!
From Wikipedia
BTH opened their factory in Mill Road in 1902 making electric motors and generators.
Thanks for the info "walksoftly", relatively big motor, but small in comparison to the 2,6 mega watt motor we work with on the gold mines. These motors used to hoist people and machinery 1.5 Km down a shaft.
Interesting to see ... thank you it's well done :) <a href="http://www.lacksokning.com/tjanster/husbesiktning/">Husbesiktning</a>
Not your average electric motor that goes for salvage.
