this piece of jewelry is so beautiful!!!! the only problem is I know nothing about it. Is it old, modern? I am so curious about this piece not sure if this is real jade. someone please let me know I am in suspense!!!! lol thanks!
i'm not an antique expert, but my guess is that this is new. i'm an artist/ metalsmith, and the fleur 'd lea are die punched on a disc that also looks die punched. nothing wrong w/ die punching, but is a modern process requiring heat treated dies for mass reproduction, rather than ONE of a kind production.
I agree with peat. It's very pretty, but it does look to be modern.
This piece is made up of two components: the older triangle jade pendant is soldered onto a fleur-de-lis circle. The jade pendant could be from 1980s or even older, can't quite tell by the photo. The jade could be natural, composite, or imitation, again, hard to tell.
thanks you guys! I will add more photos so you can see it better. I just wanted to know if I got a good find :)
I'm quite a jade expert.... and it's not "the best jade", which is bright "emerald green" and very clear, but this is one nice piece of jewelry and from the photos it surely looks like very good quality JADEITE to me. If you ever sell it, make sure you list it as "Jadeite" and not simply "Jade". Jadeite is the only "real" jade with many other being "fake jade". Some people consider "Nephrite" to be "real" but it in fact is not true jade. Other fake "jades" include: Chrysoprase & Dolomite Marble.
