I bought this at a sale over the week end and i need help identifying.. it has a dark brown patina..all solid brass or bronze.?.. theres no steel in it at all..the main shaft going to bottom where you would control it from inside like turning it or piviting the head.. is it off a boat.?.. ive seen simular on the old police cars but not the same and they were steel chromed.. lense measures 6 inches across and total length is 18 inches..theres no markings on it at all anywhere that i can see..the bulb inside it is like i remember in the old cars.. where you push it in the socket and turn and it locks in place with the little pins on the sides of the bulbs.... any help be aprreciatted.. boat seem logical, but might consider theater lighting also. I don't know, but a suggestion for research.

Have you opened up the light housing to see if there are any identifying marks inside?
Are there gaskets or seals on the inside of the lens ring & back plate?
    3. newme58, 11 years ago
theres a heavy ring behind the glass holding the glass in place but i dont see any gaskets..back plate looks like it would come off but i couldnt get it off and didnt want to force it.. the front hinges open so easy to look there... the way the mounting bracket looks it mounts like one in a police car and by turning the butterfly wing it turn the light and by pushing up or down tilts the light so would be operated from within a cab or something... and is why i though a boat... surprised something like this wouldnt have any name on it...

Being all brass I would think that it is from a boat , & I agree that it appears to be operated from the cabin/bridge/wheelhouse. If it was on a boat should have seals & gaskets to keep the water out of the fixture.
