This beautiful piece of glass was found this week in a nice mall in Michigan. I believe it to be Loetz Ausführung 166 based on the great website showing this design. However, any other thoughts are welcome. It stands 8 1/2 inches tall and a deep red with black accents. I put it back once, but decided that in spite of its faults, it deserved a new home where it could still be appreciated for the artistry. As you can see in the third picture, it has a broken snake and cracks at the prunt. Luckily all the damage is on one side and on a shelf with a light, it is beautiful. (Besides, it was only 20 bucks - I'm sure I will get that much enjoyment from it.)
Although I look for pottery, I also found the web piece for even less on this trip.
I have a pair of these - there is a production photo in the back of the Hatje Cantz Loetz book that shows this model and the production number. I'll check it out tonight when I get home.
