I need some help on this one. This item is about 12 inches long and made from wood. There are three pieces of wood that are carved loosely on the handle so they can move up and down when shaken. My guess is Native American. I know it dates back to at least the 1950's.
Thoughts?
I'm no expert, but can tell you that this positively, was not made by native Americans. Parts are turned on a lathe, which have been probably at least a few thousand years, but not in the hands of Indians. Beautiful piece & await somebody who can shed light on this.
Okay, my second guess is African. Lol
My bet would be on looking further north. Maybe Tibet or around that area. Here again. I'm guessing with limited knowledge, just like you. Think you found the right site for help. Just doesn't have that African look to me.
You're probably right blunderbuss.
My third guess is it is an attitude adjuster. We need to get knocked in the head with this. Lol
It's a chocolate stir for making Mexican hot chocolate, but this one might be for decoration purposes. Nice piece! =)
Tom, & we are supposed to be "a serious site"? I'm still waiting at the pub! What colour shirt are you wearing?
I'm not wearing a shirt, do I need one?
You might be hard to spot then!
Today's Mork & Mindy Sunday, I sporting Mork from Ork apparel, Nanoo nanoo! LoL
Got it. I'll throw on a necktie.
LOL
Possible that it is Eastern European; a bulawa.

I have one also. I thought it was really neat looking. I was told it is a bakers chocolate 'drizzle' from Mexico (close to me in San Diego). I believe the person who told me about this was 'guessing' so tom61375 maybe on the right track. Nice!
Thank you VintageElle. Can you post yours? I would love to see it too.
Tom, I'm still waiting at the Soggy Dollar! Easy to spot. I'm the 1 on the floor next to a bar stool. You got quite a tab run up!
I just did – enjoy!
