This was my maternal grandmother's copy of Robinson Crusoe that she had as a child. She was born in 1911. There is handwriting on the first two pages of the book. From that I can tell that her father gave the book to her with his writing "Marie From Papa" and she re-wrote under that "From Papa to Marie". She wrote her home address in the book under the words "In case this book is lost please return it to" likely because it was taken to school. When I turn to the Preface page I learn that indeed the book was taken to school and my grandmother, as a young school girl, wrote in the book "Robinson Crusoe is a very good book and I recommend it to the rest of the class."
