A Civil War ink bottle P & J Arnold stone ware 8oz. bottle. The wooden handle with brass plate in front is an old wooden dowel threader. The white plastic egg I believe is an old size grader for egg sorting. Two square forged nails found at an old farm house site. A wire ring remover and crimping tool that pliers looking thing. An Ebony and bone chess set Victorian era Great grandparents. I worked for the Genesee Brewing co. that cork screw thing is a wooden bung remover. The knife in front of the chess set is a PAL Blade co. made U.S.A. The other pocket knife is a Boy Scout knife Remington cutlery inside the circle U.S.A. Made on the outside. The wire thing in the middle no clue got it in a box of stuff.

Love that Remington Scout knife, what kind of shape is it in?
    4. James James, 14 years ago
The bale is bent out of shape but it has good snap. It has been used everything opens on it. The blades are tarnished but they are old... hay..... The scales are worn but not cracked. It's a nice old piece. Not mint but a keeper.

Nice pickens,at one time hammer and nails were high teck items, most of the nails were made by a blacksmith.I had a great boy scout knife my folks gave me when I was around 10 or 12, when my oldest grandson turned 12 I gave it to him.About a week after he had it was carving his name in thier wood fence his Mom took it away and that was the end of the knife.

I would hazzard a guess that your 'unknown item is some type of carpenters scribe.. they used them to mark out for dovetails and the like. just a guess....

You may be correct the sliding part is sharp like a knife blade.

The tip reminds me of a leather saddle sewing tool I have.

Yes it could be a strap cutter. Hadn't thought of that and I do leather work.
