I found this gem on Goodwill's auction site. Someone really did some damage at somepoint with a 60 grit disk sander and too much urethane. the handles and the feet have widely varying dimensions, the hinges are mismatched, the bottom is plywood, one of the feet was broken and repaired by Beavis and or Butthead. The latch says "yale" and is broken. I can't find any info about this type of handles. There is an (stick-on type) address label on the bottom with with Edith C___R and an address in Fountain Valley. When I searched for it I came up with a woman born in 1905! who died in 2006 at 101 years old! The joints are a modified rabbet with nails. It smells "right". My theory is that Edith may have built this herself in high School and perhaps a well meaning grand-child "restroyed" it sometime ago. Any ideas?
