- This was one of a series of eight stamps issued in the Space Achievement Series - This one depicting the Space Shuttle "Columbia" on a mission in space. (Space Shuttle Columbia disintegrated over Texas and Louisiana as it reentered Earth's atmosphere, killing all seven crew members on February 1, 2003, shortly before it was scheduled to conclude its 28th mission.)
