Niello or enameled studs/cufflink. Year: probably early 1900 - Condition: very good. Inlaid silver pattern on the theme of the Vine on black background. Patented marked JH on the clip which also appears in silver - 2 marks. (see photo 3)
Niello is a black mixture of copper, silver, and lead sulphides, used as an inlay on engraved or etched metal. It can be used for filling in designs cut from metal. The Egyptians are credited with originating niello decoration, which spread throughout Europe during the late Iron Age and is common in Anglo-Saxon, Celtic and other types of Early Medieval jewelry
I have a few questions. Which of you recognize the hallmarks and are these studs enameled or Niello ??
Very pretty!!

Niello is a kind of enameling, so they are both, "niello enameled cufflinks".
davyd286 thanks a lot for your short but clear explanation! I've now an answer on my questions.
