    (106 items)

Aircraft compass and clock from military aircraft. Vintage 40's-50's. Clock is Waltham 8 day, type 18A USAF. Compass s/n 686 Pilots Standby,..Purchased several of these at a Military Surplus store on Commerce St. San Antonio in the 50' Store Was called ACADEMY ARMY STORE. There was an endless of surplus items of every type you can think of just piled in this dark dimly lit warehouse . Prices were cheap.
Clock runs if shaken for a short time. compass works good. one of 2 shown. Many items obtained there were sold on ebay.

Spent some hrs looking at an instrument panel going to St. Croix & back. The good ole magnetic compass is still there as a desperate backup but everything else is digital.

Yep I know what you mean. Never piloted a plane with glass. If it sees bad weather does it say "make a U turn"?
