This is the 2nd part of pics of this secretary because I couldn't fit the details into 4 pics. The Brown-hart arm automatically swings out to support the writing leaf & a slopped piece of wood next to the "stop", makes sure that it always remains level. The auto-release is a spring loaded brass plunger that releases as soon at the desk starts to fold down & cushioned by a leather stop. The top, sides & desk are sliding dovetails so no tools are required to totally disassemble the whole thing down to a stack of pieces maybe 14" tall and the dimensions of the base. You can see the bullet hole here.

Hey, can pack in 4 pics, so here is final approach in Grand Case, St. Martin.

Why'd you shoot the thing anyway? Was it the old ,"I didn't know it was loaded"?

I ran out of "v'ass's" if you were following that running joke with Inky. OK, here's the story! Might as well go ahead & show how careless & stupid I am. I shipped a .50 cal muzzle loader down from Uncle Sambo's Plantation & couldn't get the breech plug out. Soaked it for a wk. in Liq. Wrench & it still wouldn't come out so I put a butane torch on a table in the den because if was too cold to stand outside (73F) & proceeded to heat the breech. I doubt that I need to waste time telling the rest. Bloody thing was loaded when I bought it & shipped it down!! I just simple "assumed" the old thing was empty. If it had hit that secretary any higher or lower, it would have been major damage. I left the hole as what I call a "character mark". I have to smile thinking about future speculation about how a .50 cal bullet hole got there.
